Pain Consultation

Pain is an unpleasant sensory or emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage or described in terms of such damage (IASP, 1983). There are several types of pain: acute pain, which is short-term, such as post-traumatic pain or pain following surgery, and chronic pain, which requires a more comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic approach.

Reasons to Consult

Following an initial assessment, various therapeutic methods, including medication, physical treatments, and psychological support, are considered, either alone or in combination. A multidisciplinary approach is favored, and we focus on reducing pain as much as possible to ensure the patient maintains an acceptable quality of life.
