Dr. Hana Abouzeid, after earning her medical degree in Geneva in 2001, specialized in ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins University and the Jules Gonin Hospital in Lausanne. She became an FMH and EBO specialist in 2006 and continued her surgical training at the Jules Gonin Hospital. In 2010, she was appointed Associate Physician and Head of the Outpatient Clinic at Jules Gonin Hospital. She introduced femtosecond laser cataract surgery and established the Cataract Unit in 2012.
Since 2015, she has been practicing in Geneva at her clinic, AZ Ophtalmologie, and serves as the referring physician for Ophthalmo-surgery at Clinique La Prairie. She received the Peter Watson Medal in 2019 and has been teaching part-time at the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG) since 2020. In 2024, she became a Privat Docent at the University of Geneva and was elected President of the Swiss Glaucoma Group.
She is recognized for her expertise in ophthalmology and her innovative contributions to ocular surgery, particularly in cataract and glaucoma treatments.
